To make my tall and skinny junk journal I’m using this tall and skinny printable junk journal kit that has neutral color pages, papers and elements. This printable kit includes 16 pages, 6 papers and 8 pages of elements and ephemera.
The pages print in a vertical format onto a sheet of letter size paper which is 8.5″ wide by 11″ high. When folded, the size of the finished journal is about 4.25″ by 11″ high.
The neutral pages are perfect for making a junk journal with a vintage theme, or you can easily combine the pages and elements with any other of your printable
You could also use your own digital papers together with these tall and skinny junk journal templates to design and print your own unique junk journal pages.
These templates are easy to use and allow you to design and print your own unique junk journal pages and elements in no time at all.
You can stack and overlay the templates one on top of each other to make unique papers and pages.
Print the Tall and Skinny Junk Journal Pages and Elements
To get started making the junk journal, print out the pages, and the elements and ephemera.
I’m making a simple junk journal with only one signature so I’ve printed 5 pages front and back.
On the back of the pages you could print the papers that are included with the kit, or you could print other pages.
Once printed, cut away the white border from around the edge of the pages then fold the pages in half and press with a bone folder.
Because this junk journal is quite tall, I’ve printed the pages and the elements and ephemera onto lightweight cardstock so they won’t bend or tear too easily.
Assemble the Tall and Skinny Junk Journal
Choose a page to use for the cover, then stack the other pages inside. Attach some binder clips or paper clips to keep the pages in order.
I’m going to sew the pages together using a simple pamphlet stitch. To sew a pamphlet stitch first punch three holes along the center fold – one in the middle and one each end about an inch to an inch and a half in from the edge. You can use a ruler to get an accurate measurement.
Cut a piece of thick embroidery thread a little over twice the length of the cover and thread it through an embroidery needle.
Starting with the middle hole on the inside, push the needle through to the outside leaving about a 4″ thread tail, then sew in and out until you get back to the inside middle hole.
Make sure the thread is taught, then tie off in a bow or a knot.
Embellish the Tall and Skinny Junk Journal Pages
Now that the journal is made, you can embellish the pages with the printable elements and ephemera.
There’s no right or wrong way to embellish the pages, simply play around with all the bits and pieces until you’re happy with the way the page looks.
